Saturday 16 May 2026 is a day the shuffleboard world will not forget anytime soon. At the magnificent Landgoed Zwartemeer in Drenthe, the World Championship Shuffleboard 2026 reached its thrilling conclusion and what a conclusion it was. After Friday's qualifying rounds, 128 women and 128 men stepped onto the boards ready to give absolutely everything. Round by round the field narrowed, until by the end of the day two new world champions had been crowned.

Women

The women's competition ended in a memorable all-Dutch final. Elly Mensen, a name long synonymous with excellence and experience, claimed the world title for a remarkable third time with a dominant display against Henrieke van den Bosch, winning 13–7. Carmen Harms of Germany took the bronze medal, with Ida Maytum rounding out the top four.

Men

The men's competition proved every bit as compelling. The quarter-finals delivered a series of breathless encounters, and by the time the dust had settled, Jan Oostenbrink stood alone at the top. In a final that pitted two players sharing the same first name against each other, there was ultimately only one winner. Oostenbrink was imperious throughout, defeating Jan Klein 14–4 in a display that left no doubt as to who belongs at the very top of this sport. Dick Eijlers claimed the bronze, with Henk van der Ree Doolaard finishing fourth.

Proud of every participant

The World Championship Shuffleboard has always been about far more than just a competition. With players travelling from 16 countries, from the Netherlands and Germany to Suriname, Ireland, Ukraine and the Philippines, Landgoed Zwartemeer became for three days the beating heart of the global shuffleboard community. We are enormously proud of every single participant who competed, who made the journey, and who showed the world what dedication to this wonderful sport looks like.

Our warmest thanks go to Sjoelvereniging De Brikkenmikkers, the ANS, all our volunteers, our generous sponsors, and of course Landgoed Zwartemeer for their exceptional hospitality. Without each and every one of you, none of this would have been possible.
